Welcome To Kestrel Mead Primary Academy

Welcome to our school website. Kestrel Mead is situated in the growing area of Hamilton on the outskirts of Leicester City. We are a vibrant, caring and aspirational primary school catering for children between the ages of three and eleven. We are proud to be a school across 2 school sites, with one school ethos.

The infant school site caters for children from Nursery to Year 2. On the infant site we also have an 8 place provision called ‘The Nest’. This is a designated specialist provision for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and co-occurring needs. Our Junior school site serves our Year 3-6 children.

We welcome enquiries to the school; for prospective pupils, interested parents and professionals who would like to see our pedagogy and curriculum offer in practice. We have structured open mornings and can arrange visits for professionals with prior warning. Although most of our parent communication and sharing of good work is now done through a closed platform (Class Dojo) we are still very active on Twitter, so be sure to click on one of the tweets below to see the daily photos and updates that we provide. If you would like to see a little virtual flavour of our school, take a look at our speedy school tour. It was taken during COVID times and despite the barriers, you can still feel the love of learning across the school.  I love this video as it captures the children’s curiosity, team work and deep desire to learn in all classes.

Following a very difficult few years due to COVID 19, we are proud of the way that our school community have pulled together. We have made several curriculum amendments to meet the children’s needs post COVID and are proud of the personalised offer that we have provided. If you are interested in finding out more, please see our COVID 19 tab. As we enter 22-23, we continue to work hard to improve the outcomes of children to ensure that COVID does not have a lasting impact on the children in our school.

We are proud to be part of TMET (The Mead Educational Trust) and share our excellent practice across the trust as well as joining up developmentally in our journey to excellence.
