Welcome To Kestrel Mead Primary Academy

Welcome to our school website. Kestrel Mead is situated in the growing area of Hamilton on the outskirts of Leicester City. We are a vibrant, caring and aspirational primary school catering for children between the ages of three and eleven. We are proud to be a school across 2 school sites, with one school ethos.

The infant school site caters for children from Nursery to Year 2. On the infant site we also have an 8 place provisin called ‘The Nest’. This is a designated specialist provision for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and co-occurring needs. Our Junior school site serves our Year 3-6 children.

We welcome enquiries to the school; for prospective pupils, interested parents and professionals who would like to see our pedagogy and curriculum offer in practice. We have structured open mornings, abiding by the COVID risk assessment and can arrange visits for professionals with prior warning. Although most of our parent communication and sharing of good work is now done through a closed platform (Class Dojo) we are still very active on Twitter, so be sure to click on one of the tweets below to see the daily photos and updates that we provide. We are also aware that we have not been able to show off our exciting school to prospective parents, so the teachers have worked hard to give you a flavour of learning in classrooms across the 2 school sites. I love this video as it captures the children’s curiosity, team work and deep desire to learn in all classes.

Following a very difficult few years due to COVID 19, we are proud of the way that our school community have pulled together. See the COVID tab for more information about our current health and safety measures and the significant amount of work that we have done to ensure that there has been limited education impact on the children at Kestrel Mead. Although we are unable to welcome our community into school as we would hope to just yet, we are grateful for the unwavering support and unity that parents and carers at Kestrel Mead give to ensure that we all work together to allow all children to ‘Be the best they can be’.
