Our Vision

As a school, we believe in every child has the right to a safe, clean local environment whilst understanding the importance of what this can bring to our community. We actively encourage all children to engage in physical activity to travel to and from school sustainably, enabling healthy lifestyle choices that remain with each child throughout life.

Clean Air Day

Clean Air Day will be held on Thursday June 19th. Both Mundesley Road at the Junior site and Hazeldene Road at the Infant site will be closed for the day to promote awareness for sustainable, healthy travel to school. There will also be cones around the area surrounding the schools to prevent people parking and idling nearby. Our mission is to get as many children as possible to walk, scoot or cycle into school that day. There will also be a range of fun activities held throughout the day to promote our clean air vision.

In classrooms, as part of geography linked map lessons, children are encouraged to:

  • Find where they live on the map or find a local street or friend’s house they could drive to
  • Plan a route to school
  • Estimate how long it will take
  • Try out their route

Park and stride

We encourage children to bike/scoot, walk or park and stride each day. If you live far away, we encourage you to park at Hamilton Library. On Clean Air Day, we will be meeting at the meeting point outside Hamilton Library where a designated member of staff will walk everyone (parents and children) over to either the Infant or Junior site. Parents must accompany their child on the walk to each site.

At the infant school each morning children will record how they have travelled using the Living Streets website. At the end of each month those children that have made sufficient active travels will earn themselves a badge.
