We are very proud to have our very own uniquely designed P.E. curriculum here at Kestrel Mead. Our pupils receive a fantastic offer within taught P.E. sessions and competitive inter-school competitions. We work closely within our Trust and with a huge network of schools as part of the INSPIRE programme, that promotes and celebrates competitive sport at varying levels.

Pupils are taught a breadth of units across KS1 and KS2. These units consist of a mixture of indoor and outdoor P.E. (excluding EYFS and Year 1) which have been designed to build on pupils’ physical skills, tactical awareness, self-management, and physical/mental well-being. Swimming is taught by LCC qualified swim teachers: pupils in Year 5 receive a thirty-minute lesson every week at Spence Street swimming pool. We follow the Swim England School Swimming and Water Safety Charter.

Our team, along with our specialist sports coach and apprentice, have a dedication to encouraging healthy competition, celebrating sporting achievements and embedding a lifestyle choice that fosters a love of sport. We also signpost pathways to excellence and roots into external clubs and teams.
