Kestrel Mead Primary Academy Admissions Policy Consultation

Background Kestrel Mead Primary Academy participates in full with the Local Authority’s Fair Access protocol in order that the most vulnerable children are offered a place at a suitable school as quickly as possible. In exceptional circumstances, this may include admitting children above the School’s published PAN. Kestrel Mead Primary Academy has a Designated Specialist Provision (DSP) unit which has 8 places to cater for pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan detailing a primary need of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Therefore, the School already has a number of pupils with significant ASD need. The School is proposing to limit the number of children in the main school with identified ASD needs (or who are on the identification pathway) to ensure effective provision for children with ASD needs across the school and DSP.
